Understanding Our Objectives

Reaching out to the Welsh public and policy makers in Wales and Westminster

Sharing Information and Raising Awareness

Our primary objective is to disseminate accurate and compelling information about vivisection. We do extensive research, reading Government and Senedd documentation, journal articles and other sources.  Freedom of Information requests are regularly submitted to Government departments, universities and other institutions. We produce our own literature which we share at outreaches and events, via social media and our on-line repository (on Facebook).  By raising awareness, Wales Against Animal Experiments empowers individuals to make informed decisions and advocate for change. We aim to reach a broad audience, ensuring that the realities of animal research are understood throughout Wales.

Engaging with Politicians & the Media

WAAE is driven by the desire to bring about policy change in Wales and has communicated with local politicians, Members of the Senedd, and Welsh MPs in Westminster.

We are dedicated to promoting the adoption of non-animal methods (NAMs) (see sub-page on NAMs).  In 2024/25 we garnered just under 14,000 signatures on a Senedd petition calling on the Welsh Government to divert funding away from animal testing to new human-relevant technologies.  The petition was later discussed by the Senedd Cross Party Group on Animal Welfare.  We followed this up with a letter to all MSs, asking them to discuss with colleagues the potential for economic growth offered by state-of-the-art  technologies, not to mention benefits to public health and the NHS.

WAAE's campaign has been covered on several occasions by Welsh media. (Visit our Facts/Info page for media articles.)

Cultivating a Powerful Movement for Change

We are building a grassroots movement here in Wales. The aim is to harness 'people power' to create a collective force that drives meaningful change.
